refund policy.
short and fair, because this is where most platforms lie.
effective: may 1, 2025
the three guarantees
- cancelled events — the buyer gets 100% back, automatically, within 5–7 business days. including our fee. we do not keep our fee on cancellations.
- rescheduled events — the buyer chooses: keep the ticket or get a full refund (including fees).
- buyer-initiated refunds — subject to the event's stated refund policy (chosen by the organizer in the wizard). we support these policies:
organizer-selectable refund policies
- all sales final — no refunds except for cancellation or rescheduling
- refundable · 24h before doors — buyers can self-refund up to 24 hours prior
- refundable · 7 days before doors — more common for dinners and limited-cap rooms
- refundable · anytime — you can just refund right up to doors
- exchange-only — we reissue for another event of equal value
the chosen policy is disclosed on the event page, on the checkout, and on the receipt. we don't allow organizers to change it after the event goes on sale.
fees on refunds
we refund our 6% + $0.50 buyer fee in full on every refund. the organizer returns the ticket face value. we eat the stripe processing cost (roughly 2.9%) on refunds within 120 days of the original sale. after that, stripe does not return processing to us; see "edge cases" below.
how the buyer requests a refund
buyers go to tired.events → orders → the relevant order → "request refund". if the event's policy allows it, the refund is instant. otherwise, it routes to the organizer, who has 3 business days to respond.
chargebacks
if a buyer files a chargeback instead of a refund request, we defend it with scanner evidence (if they showed up and were checked in) or refund it (if they didn't). lost chargebacks cost the organizer $15. we split this $15 with the organizer only if the event was found negligent per stripe's classification; otherwise it's passed through.
weather, strikes, and acts of god
we can't refund on an organizer's behalf unless the event is formally cancelled or rescheduled in the dashboard. if the organizer continues the event with reduced attendance, the ticket is valid and not refundable unless they say so.
edge cases
- event > 120 days after purchase — stripe doesn't return processing to us; we still refund our 6% + $0.50, but the org cost includes ~2.9% processing
- fraud on the buyer's card — full refund, instant, no questions; report to security@
- organizer abandons event without cancelling — we mark the event "platform-cancelled" after 48h of unresponsiveness and refund every buyer
- venue relocation within same city — not a cancellation; tickets remain valid unless organizer opts for full refund
disputes
if a buyer and organizer disagree, support@tiredevents.com is the escalation. we mediate. we're not the arbiter; we're the platform — but we'll take the buyer's side on anything that crosses a consumer-protection line.
